The fine may or may not be hefty, but the real cost is in the impact to your driving record and insurance premiums. If you accumulate enough points, you face license suspension. It may seem cheaper and easier to just pay the fine and be done with it, but that is considered an admission of guilt and it is acceptance of the consequences far beyond the price of the ticket. An experienced traffic ticket defense attorney may be able to have the penalties reduced and may even be able to have your ticket dismissed.
